iPad Mini rumours intensify

Wednesday, 8 August 2012 11:29:19 BST

While Apple has now released three generations of its 9.7 inch touch panel tablet the iPad, the growing speculation surrounding a scaled down version being in the works for a release this year seems to be coming to a head.

The most persistent rumour focuses on the touch panel display, which will apparently be 7.85 inches in size, according to various sources.

This level of consistency in various online reports smacks of the truth, although Apple alone will be able to confirm this and will do so in its own time.

Recent images purporting to show the outer casing of the iPad Mini, seemed to suggest that it will not feature a rear mounted camera, which would definitely be a bold move.

However, the only reason for making this decision would be to keep the cost of the iPad Mini as low as possible and so far, Apple has never been concerned about affordability, choosing instead to preserve the premium quality reputation of its brand.

Whatever the ultimate size, shape and capabilities of the iPad Mini, it is going to cause real problems for Google and Amazon, since they have both launched seven inch touch panel tablets in recent months.
